What sizes does the Kegema FBP1625 flatbed cutter come in?
The Kegema FBP1625 is a NEW SERIES flatbed cutting system, listed on the data sheet as an "Advertising Packaging Industry Cutting Machine". Two working areas are available: 1600 × 2500 mm and 1800 × 2500 mm. Only the width differs — the footprint grows from 3560 × 2350 mm to 3560 × 2550 mm, while the height stays at 1221 mm in both cases. The table is operated from an LCD touch screen on the machine, and data is transferred over an Ethernet interface. Cutting speed is adjustable from 0 to 1800 mm/s.
| Model | Kegema FBP1625 (NEW SERIES) |
|---|---|
| Working area | 1600 × 2500 mm or 1800 × 2500 mm |
| Machine dimensions | 3560 × 2350 × 1221 mm or 3560 × 2550 × 1221 mm |
| Cutting thickness | ≤ 50 mm (≤ 150 mm as a custom build) |
| Cutting speed | 0 – 1800 mm/s |
| Rated power | 11 kW |
| Rated voltage | 220/380 V ± 10 % |
| Control | LCD touch screen |
| Interface | Ethernet |
The cutting head is designed for tool changes. Instead of keeping a separate machine for every application, you swap the tool — oscillating knife, circular knife, kiss-cut, V-cut or CCD camera — and run the same table for packaging, display work and film cutting.
Which materials and thicknesses can a flatbed cutter handle?
The Kegema FBP1625 is built for boards and sheets and cuts material up to 50 mm thick as standard; as a custom build the manufacturer states up to 150 mm. What is achievable in practice depends on the tool fitted — a drag knife works considerably shallower than a pneumatic knife.
| Standard cutting thickness | ≤ 50 mm (≤ 150 mm as a custom build) |
|---|---|
| Drag knife tool (DKT) | up to 5 mm |
| Milling knife tool | up to 20 mm, spindle speed 24,000 rpm |
| Pneumatic knife tool | up to 100 mm with specialised blades |
Materials listed on the data sheet include:
- Paperboard, grey board and corrugated board
- Honeycomb board, KT board and foam board
- EPE and EVA foams
- PVC board and acrylic board
- Car sticker film and PP adhesive material
Roll media stays with the KS160 PRO: it handles vinyl up to 1680 mm media width with 10 to 800 g of cutting force and tracks up to 10 m of cut length without deviation.
Which tools can be fitted to the interchangeable head?
The interchangeable head of the Kegema FBP1625 takes five tool types plus a CCD camera for contour cutting. Which tool makes sense follows from material density and cut type, not from the size of the machine.
| EOT – oscillating knife tool | For medium-density material, combined with various blade types: foam board, honeycomb board, corrugated board, cardboard, KT board, grey board, composites, carpet, leather |
|---|---|
| VCT – V-cut tool | Bevel cuts for folding edges in corrugated board, KT board, hard cardboard and packaging; selectable angles of 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 30° and 45° |
| OKT – kiss-cut tool | Cuts the top layer without damaging the liner: stickers, labels, self-adhesive vinyl, reflective film, double-layer adhesives |
| DKT – drag knife tool | Non-oscillating tool up to 5 mm; according to the manufacturer the most cost-effective option, with high cutting speed and low maintenance: backlit film, PP paper, folding cards, phone films, flexible plastics |
| DRT – circular knife tool | Servo-driven circular or decagonal blades, intended for woven materials and textiles |
| CCD camera | Optical registration mark detection for contour cutting printed sheets |
Typical applications therefore include folding cartons and packing boxes, display stands, kiss-cut labels, vehicle wrap parts, mobile phone films, and marking or punching work in leather and fabric.
How accurate is the KS160 PRO in print and cut work?
The Kegema KS160 PRO works to a cutting precision of ± 0.02 mm and a repeat accuracy of ± 0.1 mm. The two figures describe different things: cutting precision covers positioning within one job, repeat accuracy covers a second pass over the same contour — which matters wherever a sheet goes through the machine more than once.
On long runs, material transport decides the result. Six pinch rollers and steel grit rollers keep the vinyl tracking without deviation over cut lengths of up to 10 m. For contour cutting, the HD CCD camera reads multiple registration marks rather than a single one and compensates for distortion caused by printing and media stretch. Through-cut and kiss-cut can be combined in one job, so the through-cut outline and the kiss-cut do not have to run separately.
QR code job recognition speeds up the workflow: the plotter pulls the matching cutting job itself. It is driven over USB 2.0, over TCP/IP on the network, or entirely without a computer from a USB stick. Supported software is AIDCUT, Jinkacut and Signmaster.
Roll cutting plotter or flatbed cutter — which machine fits?
The material decides, not the budget. The KS160 PRO is a roll cutting plotter for flexible vinyl; the FBP1625 is a flatbed cutter for rigid boards and sheets. Corrugated board, honeycomb board or acrylic cannot be processed on a roll plotter — and conversely, a flatbed table's working area ends at 2500 mm in length, while the roll plotter cuts continuous lengths of up to 10 m.
| Material format | KS160 PRO: roll media, vinyl · FBP1625: boards and sheets |
|---|---|
| Working area | KS160 PRO: 1550 mm cutting width on 1680 mm media width · FBP1625: 1600 × 2500 mm or 1800 × 2500 mm |
| Cutting speed | KS160 PRO: 10 – 1200 mm/s · FBP1625: 0 – 1800 mm/s |
| Material thickness | KS160 PRO: vinyl, 10 – 800 g cutting force · FBP1625: ≤ 50 mm, ≤ 150 mm as a custom build |
| Operation and connectivity | KS160 PRO: USB 2.0, USB stick, TCP/IP · FBP1625: LCD touch screen, Ethernet |
| Power supply | KS160 PRO: AC 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz · FBP1625: 220/380 V ± 10 %, 11 kW |
| Footprint | KS160 PRO: 1920 × 630 × 1120 mm · FBP1625: from 3560 × 2350 × 1221 mm |
Shops that need both — printed vinyl on contour plus cartonboard or display material — run the two systems side by side: the roll plotter for print and cut, the flatbed table for everything that cannot be rolled up.
What power supply, floor space and weight do I need to plan for?
The two machines place very different demands on the installation site. The KS160 PRO runs on a standard AC supply of 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz and weighs 66 kg net. The FBP1625, at 11 kW rated power on 220/380 V ± 10 %, is an installation whose connection should be agreed with your electrical planning in advance.
| KS160 PRO – operating voltage | AC 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz |
|---|---|
| KS160 PRO – machine dimensions | 1920 × 630 × 1120 mm |
| KS160 PRO – shipping dimensions | 2130 × 550 × 530 mm |
| KS160 PRO – weight | 66 kg net / 97 kg gross |
| KS160 PRO – operating environment | +5 °C to +35 °C |
| FBP1625 – rated power | 11 kW |
| FBP1625 – rated voltage | 220/380 V ± 10 % |
| FBP1625 – machine dimensions | 3560 × 2350 × 1221 mm or 3560 × 2550 × 1221 mm |
Two points are easily overlooked during planning. First, delivery: the KS160 PRO ships in a crate measuring 2130 × 550 × 530 mm at 97 kg gross, so access route, door widths and lift capacity should be checked beforehand. Second, the environment: the manufacturer specifies +5 °C to +35 °C for the KS160 PRO. An unheated hall in winter is outside that range.
